SkinnyMint Teatox Review

How is August 2017 already over?! Is 2017 flying by for anyone else like it is for me?! I mentioned a few weeks ago over on my Instagram stories I had been super curious about testing out a Teatox to see what all the fuss was about and I have been experiencing bloat more and more and was feeling like I needed a little something to help with it. I wanted to see for myself what would really happen and with my upcoming trip to Maui, I decided why not give it a go and see what happens. I did some research and decided to try SkinnyMint 28-Day Ultimate Teatox which was perfect because it came the first week of August, just in time to see if I could see some results before I left for my trip!

I know Teatox’s have gotten a bad rap in the health and wellness world but I think the main thing to understand here is that it’s all natural ingredients and it’s tea, it’s not a miracle worker. If you drink the tea and still aren’t eating healthy and incorporating exercise, you’re not going to see insane results. But if you add the tea into your day, and maintain a healthy diet and add exercise into your day you will notice a difference. Yes, this tea does have natural ingredients that will get your bowels moving. For me, I actually really love this because I can go days without having a normal movement and it’s really frustrating! I know that may be TMI but I’m here, to be honest, and share my journey, including the stuff sometimes people don’t love to chat about. But it’s so important to talk about these things so we can all help each other out!

I started each morning with a cup of the Morning Boost and it replaced my morning coffee for this month. I still had my cup of coffee but just later in the day, I can’t give my coffee up for anyone or anything! I actually really love starting my day out with the Morning Boost tea! I loved adding a lemon slice and a drizzle of my favorite manuka honey. The morning tea is really good and has an amazing fruity flavor. It has enough caffeine to wake me up and give me energy throughout my morning but less caffeine than a normal cup of coffee so I’m never jittery. The main ingredients in the morning boost are Green Tea, Yerba Mate, Guarana, Nettle leaves, and Dandelion. Of course, I did my research on these ingredients because even though companies claim something is natural it’s still best to do a quick google search and learn something new for yourself.

Most people know the amazing benefits of green tea but in case you don’t–green tea is loaded with antioxidants and nutrients that can improve brain function, fat loss, lower risk of cancer and so many more amazing benefits. Yerba Mate is described as the ““strength of coffee, the health benefits of tea, and the euphoria of chocolate” all in one beverage. Um, sign me up for that! And last but not least guarana is also another natural plant based form of caffeine. So the first three ingredients are natural forms of caffeine, okay great! I already drink a ton of coffee so that’s nothing new for my system.

Nettle leaves and Dandelion are both digestive ailment soothers and they serve as a diuretic which helps eliminate toxins from your body, hence the bowel movement you may find you have after you’ve had your morning cup of tea! It’s extremely healthy to have these bowel movements 1-2 times a day and like I said before I was sometimes going days without, so this natural tea has been nice for me in that way!

Then at night (every other evening), instead of grabbing chocolate or dessert, I’ve been making the Night Cleanse Tea, which has totally helped curved my sweet tooth and also helps me feel calm and ready for bed. It is uniquely formulated as the perfect night-time ritual and even after my 28 days were up, I continued making tea every night. I think a lot of times I’m sitting around watching tv and am just bored and feel like I’m hungry when I’m actually not. It’s nice having something to sip on that tastes good and doesn’t have the calories of ice cream, chocolate, or the sugar of fruit in it! The Night Cleanse Tea contains natural cleansing ingredients and soothing elements to naturally detox the body and I found adding a bit of manuka honey helped with the taste of this one. Main ingredients include Ginger root, Lemongrass, Senna leaves, Psyllium husk, Peppermint, Hawthorn Berries, Orange leaves, and Licorice root.

Ingredient Benefits:

  • Ginger root = settles the stomach, relaxes the body, and can help reduce inflammation
  • Lemongrass = good for Digestion, Full of antioxidants, Boosts Metabolism and Burns Fat
  • Senna Leaves = FDA-approved nonprescription laxative
  • Psyllium Husk = soluble fiber that can help relieve some symptoms of irritable bowel syndrome (IBS), such as diarrhea and constipation
  • Peppermint = improve digestion, reduce pain, eliminate inflammation, relax the body and mind, cure bad breath, aid in weight loss and boost the immune system.
  • Hawthorn Berries = improve digestion. Additionally, the fiber in hawthorn improves the digestive process, helping with constipation, bloating and cramping.
  • Orange leaves = for flavoring and can help decrease blood pressure
  • Licorice root =  can help various digestive system complaints including stomach ulcersheartburn, colic, and ongoing inflammation of the lining of the stomach (chronic gastritis).

All of these ingredients have great health benefits, the one that is controversial is the senna leaves since that is helping to flush the system the most because it is a natural form of a laxative. Since this has the laxative in it, that’s why they suggest to only drink it every other night.

Overall, I had a great experience with the tea. I kept realistic expectations and I didn’t see any weight loss (but again, I didn’t do this to lose weight!) but I did feel like my stomach felt extremely flat and I never really had any issues with bloating or feeling super hungry throughout the 28 days. I found with the Teatox that I kept to my healthy eating routine and often skipped desserts easily. I also loved not feeling hungry during the day.  I found this to be such a fun and interesting experience and I’m glad that I tried it out and can give you all my honest feedback! If your stomach is super sensitive I would suggest using the biggest mug you can find and adding as much water to the tea to sort of dilute the tea a bit.
