Coffee. It’s the magic to my day, I wake up craving it and can’t really start my day until I’ve had a cup. I’m sure a lot of you out there feel similarly. Coffee came into my life later than most people. I grew up watching my parents drink it. I remember the smell of it from my bed as I would wake up most mornings as a kid, thinking it smelled disgusting and why would anyone choose to drink that.
My how times have changed, ha! I started really getting into a coffee habit when I began my first full-time job post college, it was a social activity and they even had coffee to drink our office for free. It started off as a cup here or there and morphed into a daily habit, and at some points, it was a twice a day affair.
I was the girl who took a little coffee with her cream, though, of course. I was still getting used to the coffee taste but the amazing sweet sugar filled creamers were amazing. As the years went on, I slowly started adding less creamer and more coffee, but I definitely still enjoyed adding in the cream.
About a year ago, after drinking coffee on an off for the last 4 or so years, I started hearing about “Bulletproof coffee” and I thought to myself, “no way can I give up my cream” – well it finally happened. I’ve given up my daily cream in my coffee and replaced it with this amazing Collagen Bulletproof Coffee, that I swear tastes just as creamy as creamer but without any cream!
I know it’s a little crazy but you’ll have to trust me on this one, it just works! Not only is this version of Bulletproof coffee so much better for you than any kind of creamer you can buy at the store, it’s also freaking delicious. I don’t miss my old creamer at all, which I never thought I would say in my lifetime! Preparing your coffee this way also has so many other amazing health benefits as well. The collagen provides protein and is amazing for your digestion, skin, nails, and hair and the coconut oil adds all the healthy fats that your brain needs to function properly first thing in the morning. It’s a powerhouse coffee that will kickstart your brain and get you super focused and ready to take on your day! Creamy Collagen Coffee
serves: 1 | prep time: 3 minutes | blend time: 60-90 seconds
8-12 ounces of brewed coffee, use organic if possible, I use a Nespresso Pod
1-2 scoops of Vital Proteins Collagen Peptides
1 tbsp organic coconut oil, I use the kind from Trader Joes
1 tsp honey or a few drops of Liquid Stevia, optional
Brew your coffee of choice and add it to your Vitamix or a blender. Add in collagen peptides, coconut oil, and optional sweetener of choice, I usually use honey if I want a little sweetener, to your blender. Secure the lid. Blend on medium-high for a minute to a minute and a half or until it looks super creamy. Then just pour directly into your coffee mug of choice and enjoy! It will be creamy and frothy and absolutely delicious!
It is recommended to drink this type of coffee without a meal and to not eat after drinking it until you get hungry, or for at least 3 hours. This is a meal replacement since it still has quite a bit of calories in it. That being said, if you prefer to eat your calories, I totally get it, I would use less of the coconut oil, try a tsp instead of a tbsp!
I’ve been drinking my coffee this way now for the past 3 weeks and have absolutely been loving it! I feel much more energetic in the mornings and more awake throughout the day. I’ve also seen a difference with the addition of the Vital Proteins Collagen Peptides, my hair, skin and nails are looking amazing! So thankful for this product in my life!
