It’s funny how everyone seems to be celebrating fall all of a sudden and just last week I was at the beach enjoying the warm sunshine on my face and my toes in the sand. The life of a Los Angelino, right?! But anyway, it seems like everyone is pulling out their sweaters and candles, and pumpkin everything is exploding all over the place right now. I mean I guess it is October already but with this little heatwave we’ve been having I wouldn’t know it.
The last few weeks have flown by for me because I’ve been busier than normal. Which is always fun and exciting but can make it challenging to get in a proper “meal” when I’m running from yoga to an event to a dinner meeting. Thankfully, my yoga studio is close to my house which makes it easy to come home to shower and get ready to go back out again. Before I leave, I whip together my favorite fall smoothie so I don’t feel left out of the fall celebrations.
I’ve been testing out SPLENDA® Naturals Stevia Sweetener the last few weeks and I’ve been loving a dash of it in my Pumpkin Pecan Protein Smoothie! I was hesitant to give this a try because normally I’m not a fan of stevia’s bitter aftertaste. However, this specific product definitely does not have a bitter aftertaste at all, which is so amazing! Not only did Splenda come out with a Stevia line of sweeteners but Splenda is making it easy to have a sweet treat without the guilt or feeling like I’ve ruined my healthy lifestyle. I can throw a few packets into my purse and add it to my coffee during an afternoon meeting, or even use SPLENDA® Naturals Stevia Sweetener when baking my favorite fall treats, like pumpkin bread! The options are endless!
I’m so excited to bring you the recipe for my favorite fall smoothie! It’s packed with all the fall flavors like pumpkin, pumpkin pie spices, and even has some pecans for an added nutty flavor and of course a sprinkle of SPLENDA® Naturals Stevia Sweetener to add that sweet pumpkin flavor we all love so much, without the guilt or added calories from sugar. This smoothie also packs so many other nutritional benefits as well, collagen to provide protein and help with digestion, hair, skin, and nails, and chia seeds for fiber to help keep you fuller longer!
Pumpkin Pecan Protein Smoothie
1 cup homemade cashew milk (recipe found here) or milk of choice
1/2 cup organic pure pumpkin puree (not pumpkin pie filling)
1 scoop Vanilla Whey Protein (or protein of choice)
1 scoop Collagen (of choice)
1/2 a frozen banana, peeled and sliced
1 Tbsp pecans
1/2 tsp SPLENDA® Naturals Stevia Sweetener, Tabletop Jar
1-2 tsp pumpkin pie spice
1 tsp of vanilla extract
1 Tbsp chia seeds
ice (6-8 cubes)
Combine all ingredients in the order listed into a high-powered blender, and secure the lid. Blend on low for 10 seconds. Then increase the blender speed slowly until you reach the maximum speed, and blend for 1-2 minutes. Once blended to your liking, pour immediately and enjoy.
