How is it already almost 2018?! I can’t believe how quickly this year seemed to zoom past me. Does anyone else feel like as you get older time just goes by in a blink of an eye? As a kid, I used to think the day would drag on and on, and now I look at my watch and the day has gotten away from me and I’ve seemed to only accomplish a fourth of my to-do list. Oh well, what can you do! Time for a shorter to-do list, HA!

With the year coming to a close I began to reflect on how I spent 2017. As my health and wellness journey has evolved and I continue to move past focusing solely on weight loss and becoming healthier physically, I found myself wanting to become greener in 2017. As with most things in life this did not happen overnight. It was a slow process this year for me to take a look at some of the products I was using and realizing that while I spent a lot of effort working out and buying organic meats, veggies, and fruits so that my insides were receiving health benefits I was putting toxins onto my skin with my skincare and makeup that I was using and sort of undoing some of the work I thought I did by eating healthy and working out. I was also using products around my house that were filled with toxins!

3 green swaps in 2017 | fittybritttty.com

Even though I’m not completely non-toxic yet I wanted to share three items I switched over to become a little more green in 2017 that I’m pretty obsessed with! I’m still obviously very much a work in progress and I will say it can become quite the investment if you try to switch over all your beauty and skincare products over to greener options all at once. That’s why I suggest a slow and steady process or finding options within your budget and do your research on the products you’re considering!

Below I’m sharing some of my favorite green, non-toxic swaps that I made in 2017! These are products I use daily and that I love so much and talk about all the time to friends and family and now all of you too!

I’m so excited to share this first swap with you all! My skincare was one of the first things I really wanted to start to swap out and get green products ASAP for and then I found BioClarity’s Clear Skin System! The simple 3-step system offers three green products and has helped me to add some green to my morning and evening skincare routines. This bundle includes a cleanser, treatment, and restorative gel made with Floralux, a deeply nourishing form of chlorophyll that’s clean and green, and the best part is my skin has never been more refreshed and glowing. Bioclarity is not only made with green ingredients, its vegan, cruelty-free, and non-toxic, so it basically checks all my boxes!

It’s so important to choose products that not only make your skin feel good but are also backed by science, which is another reason switching to Bioclarity this year made total sense for me! Their products work to target the root cause of breakouts with blemish-battling lipids. And the best part is, that if you’d like to try the BioClarity Clear Skin System you can by clicking here! Plus they are offering my readers 50% off the 3 step system!! Which is so generous! Use code FITTY at checkout to save 50%!

I never really thought about what was in my cleaning products up until recently. I just assumed if it’s cleaning things it must be super amazing and made with clean ingredients, right? But boy was I wrong. I started switching over to brands like Method and Mrs. Meyers. Not only do they smell so good by using essential oils but they are made with plant-derived ingredients and do not contain ingredients like ammonia, chlorine, glycol solvents, parabens, phthalates, formaldehyde, artificial colorants, phosphates or petroleum distillates. So now when I wipe down my counters, not only do they smell amazing but they are clean enough and non-toxic enough to eat off of. Not like I ever do that… haha

I made the transition to natural deodorant at the beginning of the year and to be completely honest it was pretty difficult at first but it was completely worth it. Natural deodorant doesn’t work exactly the same as all the toxic options on the market, which is a good thing but when you’re used to something that you’ve used forever there is just an adjustment period that you’ll go through.

You’ll also notice about 6 different brands in my bathroom because it took me a while to find one that worked for me and my body. But after much trial and error, I finally found two options that work really well for me, they keep me smelling fresh and dry and the best part of all I’m not wiping toxins directly into my pores. My two favorite brands are Schmidt’s Natural Deodorant and Spruce Naturals Deodorant. I’ve also heard really great things about Primally Pure Deodorant and when I run out of the ones I have now, I’ll be trying that one next! As I said, it will take some trial and error to find what works best for you, but once you do, you’ll be so happy you made the switch.

I’d absolutely love to know if you’ve tried to make the switch this year to a more green, non-toxic lifestyle and how you did the transition. I know everyone is different and some people purge everything and buy all their items new and non-toxic at once and others go about it slow and steady like I am! Either way, it’s a great thing to research for yourself and explore. My next item that I’ll be looking to switch over is probably my laundry detergent, so if you have any good brands for me to try, let me know below!

Let me know some of the ways you switched over to green products in 2017 below in the comments!
