Hello, beauties and happy Monday. Another weekend has flown by and a new week is upon us! I love getting a new blog post up on a Monday, there is something so productive feeling about it to me. As a blogger and Instagramer, I’m constantly working, yes even on weekends, but it’s so much fun it doesn’t even feel like work – I may or may not be typing this on a Saturday night (ha)! Today I’m excited to dive into my collagen journey and talk to you about a brand of collagen I’ve been loving lately because of all the options they provide + the amazing ingredients that go into their products! I also get so many questions about the benefits of collagen so I’m going to dive into that a bit below too!

My collagen journey started about eight months ago. It began so innocently after seeing so many health food Instagrammers talking about the supplement, I had to go finally try some for myself and instantly I was hooked. I haven’t gone a day without collagen for around eight months. I’ve tried several brands but today I’m focusing in on one brand in particular that I’ve used for months and have been loving – Dr. Axe’s Unflavored Multi Collagen! I just love working with brands that put out an amazing product and getting to share that information with all of you is an extra bonus. Dr. Axe recently rebranded their Multi Collagen and they also now have amazing travel options like the single packets and the collagen capsules, which are so convenient.

A lot of you ask me, “What is Collagen” – well that’s easy, according to Dr. Axe collagen is…

Collagen is one of the reasons our bodies don’t fall apart. Collagen literally functions to hold you together—everything from your joints, bones, ligaments, and tendons all the way down to the cellular level, while also supporting health in a variety of other ways, depending on the type or types of collagen. Collagen is a protein made up of building blocks called amino acids and is so important that it makes up approximately 30 percent of all the proteins in the body, and different bodily systems and organs need specific proteins serving a variety of functions.

After trying a lot of different brands the reason I keep coming back to Dr. Axe’s collagen is that it contains F I V E types of collagen instead of just one like most of the other brands on the market today! Dr. Axe Multi Collagen Protein includes hydrolyzed bovine collagen peptides, chicken bone broth collagen concentrate, hydrolyzed fish collagen peptides, and eggshell membrane collagen, providing collagen Type I, II, III, V, and X. Unfortunately, there is not a known form of vegan or vegetarian collagen at this time.

When I began using Dr. Axe’s Unflavored Multi Collagen I started by adding it to my morning coffee. I was nervous of course at first that I would taste the difference but I knew it was the easiest way for me to know for sure that I would get my daily dose of collagen in without skipping or forgetting about it. I’m basically a zombie without my coffee and have been drinking this as my breakfast for about eight months now. Still not sick of it! When you’re implementing a new health supplement into your life it’s important to make it easy to add into your routine and that’s what I love about collagen. It’s easy. It can be added to almost anything you can imagine, hot or cold, it can travel easily, and it’s unflavored so it goes with anything and everything!

After just a few weeks of taking collagen daily, I began to notice a change in my nails and skin. My nails started feeling stronger and my skin felt just a little more smooth. I was really loving the results. After a few months, I started getting so many compliments on my hair and how long it had gotten and I was shocked, no one ever compliments me on my hair length! I was, of course, giving all the credit to my collagen addiction.

Not only is it amazing for your skin, hair, and nails but it’s also great for your joints, connective tissue (fascia), and your gut! Our bodies actually stop producing the amount of collagen we need in our 20s and so it’s really a great supplement to start taking young but really any age because of all the amazing benefits! It also adds protein to your day without even tasting like it. It’s completely orderless, flavorless, and mixes into anything as I mentioned before. For those that struggle to get enough protein throughout the day, this is the perfect addition to your pantry!

The single-serving packets and the collagen capsules have been life-changing for me recently as I travel more and more. Instead of packing little baggies of white powder (hello, how suspicious does that look to a TSA agent, ha!), I can easily grab one of the to-go options! I also, always keep the single-serving packets on my desk and in my purse so I can easily add some collagen to my day no matter where I am, no excuses here!

The capsules are amazing if you already take vitamins in the morning, just add these into your daily stack if you prefer capsules over adding it to your coffee or smoothies! The options are endless here and really there is no reason not to be taking collagen! The best part about the capsules, that the powder form doesn’t have, is that they added Organic Ashwagandha and Organic Amla Berry Extract to the capsules! The addition of the Ashwagandha, which is known for helping the body deal with stress, promotes restful sleep, and even helps with fatigue, is an amazing added health benefit and I can’t wait to see the difference with this ingredient! Amla Berry Extract is an antioxidant powerhouse full of Vitamin C and helps aid in joint support and more!
