Last November, I was lucky enough to be invited down to Arizona to visit the amazing desert oasis that is Miraval. And to top it off I got to travel with two my best blogger babes @justdimpleit and @gofitjo, it was a retreat I will never forget. Today I’m so excited to share my thoughts, what we did while we were there, and give you a full-on review of my stay! Before I really dive into this I will say that our stay was complimentary, however, I am not being paid to write this blog post and all opinions are my own. Enjoy!
If you’ve never heard of Miraval then you’re in for a real treat. Miraval is a health and wellness resort with daily workout offerings, an incredible spa, several amazing pools, and delicious and healthy food. You go here to relax, unwind, unplug, and live your life in balance. And you leave more relaxed than ever before.
From when we got picked up at the Tuscon airport our experience was magical. The entire staff really goes above and beyond to make your stay amazing. We arrived early in the morning and got on the shuttle to head to the resort, along the way we picked up several others staying at local hotels, and then we made the hour-long drive to Miraval.
When we arrived we were greeted with the most amazing house-made cider and then were escorted into the check-in area to sign paperwork (note: they have a cell phone policy in hopes you will truly unplug and designated areas you can talk on your phone). Once we checked in we took a walking tour of the grounds to get acquainted with the property. I highly suggest doing this as it’s a bit confusing at first to figure out where everything is.
Our room wasn’t ready yet so we stored our luggage and made our way to find lunch. One very convenient thing about Miraval is all the food is included in your stay. Any alcoholic drinks you decide you want are not included but you can just charge to your room, making things really easy. Lunch was so yummy and relaxing as we finished lunch we explored our schedule and the offerings over the next few days while we were there.
Before we left for our trip we had picked out and scheduled our spa services and a few experiences. I highly recommend scheduling spa services and any extra activities that aren’t included before you arrive so you can make sure you get to experience everything you want to while you’re there.
After lunch, we spent some time relaxing in the sun by the pool and catching up with one another while we waited for our room to be ready.
When our room was finally ready, so we left the pool area and made our way to the most stunning accommodations. We stayed in one of the properties Retreat homes, The Gratitude. With a stunning view of the mountains, a private pool, jacuzzi, a gourmet kitchen, 3 bedrooms, and 3 full bathrooms, the girls and I were in heaven the second we walked through the door.
Before we knew it was time to go get ready for dinner! They suggest making a reservation for dinner when you have breakfast so we ended up doing that each day based on our schedules.
The dinner menu is the same every evening and has a lovely variety to choose from and they have specials as well each night! And don’t forget to order dessert, obviously the best part of any meal! After dinner, we all made our way to the spa for our first appointments.
The spa at Miraval is quite large and as soon as you check-in you can bundle up in a comfy robe and spa shoes and then sit by the fire while you wait for your massage therapist to call your name. The first massage I picked was the NLV Nurture Massage, which was one of the best experiences I’ve ever had. It took place in one of their outdoor room (however it was at night and chilly so it was enclosed) and the journey began with a full-body salt scrub and then a mask was applied. As the mask sat the therapist did a foot and head massage. I showered off the mask in the amazing outdoor shower and then it was back on the table for an hour-long massage! It was one of the most relaxing spa experiences of my life.
The next morning we woke up and enjoyed breakfast in the dining room. They had a menu for breakfast as well as a beautiful buffet of breakfast offerings, all of which were delicious! Miraval also has a smoothie bar that is open all day with great grab-and-go options if your schedule doesn’t allow for a full sit down breakfast. After breakfast, Jo headed off for her mountain biking class, and Rachel and I went off to walk around the resort and take photos.
Later that day the three of us met back up to take a floating meditation class in the yoga yurt. It was seriously one of the most magical meditations I’ve ever done. You are wrapped in hanging silk (like you would use if doing aerial yoga) from the ceiling and you can sit or lay for the entire meditation. I highly recommend adding this to your itinerary. I usually can’t sit still in mediation and this sort of forced me and it was life-changing. I feel like I was able to fully relax and soak up all the goodness that mediation has to offer.
After that euphoric experience, we all wandered back to the spa for more amazing treatments. I had the Sun Goddess Facial and the Thai Foot and Leg Massage, both of which were amazing but I really loved the facial. I left with a serious glow. Then it was off to a late dinner at their bar (which had my favorite type of food like tacos and burgers haha) and then back to our little abode to snuggle up by the fire with a glass of wine. And then off to another amazing night of sleep. Basically, at Miraval, it’s eat, spa, workout, sleep, and repeat! And I could have done that for an entire week straight with zero complaints!
Our third day was filled with more of the same! I took a walk/hike around the property, had an amazing deep tissue massage, and then tried the Mindful Hair and Scalp Renewal which was nice but I wish I would have picked another massage instead! Then it was time for us to pack up and head home the next morning! We all wished we could have stayed longer and enjoyed another day in the sun and at the spa.
If you couldn’t tell by this entire blog post, I’m in love with Miraval and can’t wait to go back one day! It’s the most relaxing experience I’ve ever had and I left feeling renewed, inspired, and centered. It’s so important to take care of yourself in this crazy life we are all living. Miraval would be perfect for a girl’s trip, a mother and daughter getaway, or even a romantic getaway. Although I will say most of the clientele at Miraval were women on a girl’s trip! But anyone who loves self-care, wellness, and retreating would love and appreciate a Miraval Getaway!
