My Beauty Routine

I went from being the girl who wore zero makeup and couldn’t even tell you how to contour your face for a million bucks to becoming obsessed with makeup and skincare! My friends joke around a lot and say it looks like I have a makeup and skincare counter on my bathroom sink, which is kind of true. I was a member of Birchbox and Ipsy for almost two years and have tried a lot of different makeup and skincare over the years. Everything from drugstore “dupes” to my straight obsession over everything Nars and everything in between.

These days you’ll rarely see me with a full face of makeup on because I work from home and I’ve been focusing more on amazing skincare products since those are the goods that will keep my face looking young. Skincare, in general, has always been important to me but now (ahem… I’m 30 after all) more than ever it’s a super high priority.

My skincare routine is pretty simple. I’m always trying out new eye creams, face masks, and hydrating serums and lotions. But these are what I’m currently obsessing over and using daily! I have pretty dry skin and I do hot yoga about 4-5 days a week so I’m sweating a lot, which means I have the occasional pimple from sweat (and I have the best pimple cream, ever for that!) so these products address my skin issues so make sure to do your research for what will work best for your skin!

Eye Cream + Eye Masks: I’ve been using the Revitalizing Eye Cream from Joanna Vargas and LOVING it! My under eyes are usually really dry and this cream helps so much to keep my under eyes hydrated and glowing. This cream is full of nutrients to help keep your under eyes looking youthful too (yes!). On top of my twice daily eye cream, once a week or so I treat myself to an eye mask, also from Joanna Vargas. I love her Bright Eye Firming Masks. They are cooling and refreshing and will totally brighten up your whole face. When I’ve had too little sleep or am having a puffy eye day or I’ve had too much salt the night before at dinner and my face is bloated, I pop these babies on and bam, I can leave the house with no makeup because my face looks brand new!

Collagen Peptides: If you’ve been following me for the last few weeks I’ve been adding these Collagen Peptides from Vital Proteins into my daily coffee and smoothie and I’m in l.o.v.e. Not only has this product made my skin glow but it has helped so much with my hair and nails and digestion! This product is a game changer for me and I’ll probably be using it until the day I die!

Face Masks: I’ve tried a ton of face masks and right now I’m currently obsessed with (you guessed it) the Joanna Vargas Eden Instant Lift Masks (a favorite of Jessica Alba’s too!) they are SUPER hydrating and again create a feeling of tightness (in a good way) and lift in my skin that leaves me glowing afterwards. These masks look hilarious on but what mask doesn’t?! Grab a friend and have a self-care night and try these masks out together!

Drying Lotion: Mario Badescu’s Drying Lotion = My freaking savior when it comes to spot treating pimples. If you can catch your pimple before it breaks through this stuff will stop the pimple from every surfacing and it truly works. Even when I don’t catch the pimple in time, I’ll pop this on my pimple after washing my face and leave it on for a few hours (I also sleep with this on my face and wash off in the morning) and my pimple is significantly smaller or gone! It’s a miracle cream! I can’t live without this and even bring it when I’m traveling.

Rose Water Facial Spray: Another amazing and hydrating product I use every day, twice a day is Mario Badescu’s Facial Spray. I have a travel size bottle that I leave in my purse or car and full-size bottle at home. I use this to freshen up my face during the day when I’m feeling dry and already have makeup on. I also use this right when I get out of the shower and before bed. A few sprays of this and my skin soaks the hydration right in and feels and smells amazing!

Serum: I’m pretty new to serums, however, I recently got a sample of Caudalie Vinoperfect Radiance Serum from Sephora and I’m so impressed by it! I have only been using it about 2 weeks but I love how hydrating and moisturizing it is and how it smells! I feel like it makes my skin feel really soft as well.

Clarisonic: I’ve had my Clarisonic now for close to 6 months and I use it every. single. day. My face has never felt cleaner and it removes any extra makeup left after my workout!

Aquis Hair Towel: If you follow my insta-stories you’ve seen me talking about how amazing these Aquis Hair Towels are! This towel, which is made from microfiber, drys my hair about 70 percent after leaving it on for about 10-15 minutes and then I dry the rest of my hair in about 5 minutes or less! Or let it air dry! My hair has been less frizzy and cutting my blow dry time in half isn’t bad either!

Leave-in Conditioner: As a blondie, leave in condition is a must have, and I’ve been using It’s a 10 Miracle Leave In for years. I love how this smells and how well it detangles my hair!

Texturizing Spray: When I want my curls to stay all day, I grab for my Triple Sec Texturizing Spray from DryBar and it works like a charm. I’ve been obsessed with texturizing spray the last 3 years or so and haven’t touched hairspray in years. I like how this feels in my hair versus hair spray, it doesn’t leave a super dry and sticky feeling, it just adds enough texture to my hair to make my curls big and stay curly all day.

Nail Care

NailsInc Superfood Repair Oil and NailsInc Overnight Detox Mask have helped my nails recover from YEARS of having acrylic nails and gel manicures! I finally decided to stop getting my nails done and have been using these products to help get my nails back in shape and to help them get stronger, grow longer, and keep my cuticles from drying out!

Incidentally, I learnt a lot about nail care from a Cape Cod nail salon I would sometimes go to while I was visiting my sister in Hyannis, MA. Maria, the Salon owner is knowledgeable about using the right products to keep your nails naturally strong and shiny. It may have been on her suggestion that I started using Vital Proteins Collagen Peptides which have really been helping out with my nail strength and getting my nail beds healthy again!

5 Minute Makeup Routine

From going to no makeup every day to going full on contour every day, I’ve tried a ton of makeup techniques and brands and here are my holy grails. I keep my makeup routine extremely simple (for me) these days and I can do my makeup now in about 5 minutes! It may seem like a lot of products but believe me, this is a quick and dewy look that can transition from day to night with the switch of a lipstick!

Primer: Pores No More from Dr. Brandt is a stand out primer, I was shocked at how amazingly smooth my skin appears when I wear this underneath all my makeup. This was a sample from a Birchbox or Ipsy (I can’t remember) but when it’s gone I’ll be going to buy the full size because I love it so much!

Foundation: I’m a huge Nars fan, and probably will continue buying bottles of their Pure Radiant Tinted Moisturizer forever. It’s the perfect amount of coverage but not so much that it covers up every single freckle I have and it keeps my skin dewy and moisturized all day long. I really couldn’t dream up a better foundation.

Concealer: Again, Nars to the rescue here! Nars Radiant Creamy Concealer in Vanilla and Honey are both in my makeup bag depending on how tan I am, depends on what shade I use! This is the most moisturizing concealer and blends super well into my skin and matches my skin tone so well! I am also recently loving the Yves Saint Laurent Touche Eclat — it’s sort of a miracle worker when it comes to covering up dark circles and brightening up my under eye area, I highly recommend it!

Eyebrows: Anastasia of Beverly Hills Dip Brow is the product I put on every single day even if I don’t wear any other makeup! I have to have my eyebrows filled in and this stuff is the best. It’s pretty easy to use and the product lasts forever!

Blush: The Nars Orgasm Multiple is amazing because not only can it be used as blush but you can use it as a lipstick, eyeshadow, and blush! 3-in-1 and I have the travel size which makes it so easy to pop into my makeup bag!

Bronzer: Nars Bronzing Powder is a necessary addition in these winter months for me, I like to keep my skin glowing all year and this does the trick!

Lipstick: I discovered Ilia products last year and sort of fell in love! They are all natural, organic products that feel amazing! I love the Perfect Day Lipsticks because they are super moisturizing and I love the natural earthy colors they come in, perfect for everyday wear!

Brushes: I use 3 brushes and a beauty blender to apply my makeup. The beauty blender is the best tool ever to have in your makeup bag, because it ensures your foundation and concealers will be blended perfectly, leaving you with a flawless look.

And the final look…

These are all my favorite products for skincare, hair care, nail care, and beauty at the moment and all products I use day in and day out! I would love to hear if you use any of these products and if not, what are some of your favorites?! I’m always looking to try new products to work into my daily routines!

When you wrote this post you had been using Caudalie Vinoperfect Radiance Serum for 2 weeks, just wondering if you’re still using it? I’m looking for a good serum.
